Asmus Trautsch

Asmus Trautsch was born in Kiel, Germany, in 1976.
He started to learn trumpet and to compose with the age of 13.
He had won three national composition competitions before he
began to study composition in 1997 with Walter Zimmermann,
Gösta Neuwirth and Hartmut Fladt at the University of the Arts
where he graduated in 2004. In addition, he studied philosophy
and German literature at Humboldt University Berlin and University
College London. Besides, he founded the LUNARDI publishing-house
together with Bettina Hartz and is currently working on a Ph.D. in
philosophy at the Humboldt University. In spring 2008, he was visiting
scholar at Columbia University in the City of New York.
His works for soloists, singers, ensembles and orchestras have been
performed in Germany and in other European countries by ensembles
like Adapter, Konvergence, the Sing-Akademie Berlin or the Zürcher
Klaviertrio. In addition, Asmus Trautsch’s pieces were presented at
festivals like Crossing Borders (Den Haag), Nordischer Klang (Greifswald),
Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival, frum- (Island), and Israel Festival
(Jerusalem) and were boradcasted by Norddeutscher Rundfunk,
Hessischer Rundfunk and Radio Iceland (RUV).
In 2010, he is Fellow of the arts, science and business program
at Akademie Solitude, Stuttgart.
